Upcycled Hangers

The last few years upcycling has been on the upswing. You see crafters and artists upcycling everything from furniture to frames and making it into artwork.
A few years back Donna and I decided to knit around a hanger to use as a display.
Many people would ask if the hangers were for sale.

Well now they are.

We have taken old fashion wooden hangers like these

and made them into these.

The nice thing about these hangers is that they won't leave hanger marks on the shoulders of your clothes.
Your clothes also will not fall off the hanger.

We will have these at the Swissvale Farmers market this Saturday, June 20. Market hours are from 9a - 1p.

Summer Infinity Scarves

Do you happen to work in an office that is like the arctic in the summer?
Do you need something to keep you warm on chilly evenings?
These light-weight infinity scarves just might do the trick.

Here are a few infinity scarves we will have at the Swissvale Farmers Market this Saturday.

This is a colorful scarf made with with teal, red, yellow and orange acrylic yarn.

This infinity scarf has a tie-dye look.

Both the sage and tan infinity scarves are made using a cotton blend yarn.

This purple infinity scarf is made using a really soft acrylic yarn called Spa.

We are more than happy to make these infinity scarves in any color. So if you don't see something you like just ask us and we can create one for you.

The Swissvale Farmers Market hours are from 9a - 1p every Saturday through Oct 31.

Spring Wrap

A knitted wrap can be a very versatile garment with many ways to drape it around your shoulders.
This particular wrap is made using a hand - dyed yarn called Fiesta Rayon Boucle Starburst.
The color - Undersea Garden.

Here's an example of the many ways you can wear a wrap.

We are making several summer infinity scarves. I will post those once they are complete.

Happy Spring!

Pittsburgh Knit & Crochet Festival

This weekend, Knitting by Pam and Donna made a trip to Downtown Pittsburgh to go to the Pittsburgh Knit & Crochet Festival.

Here are some of our latest and greatest finds.

Let me give you some of the highlights of our purchases. We bought some pattens, some silk and alpaca yarn. Both of us bought some jewelry made from knitting needles and crochet hooks. Donna bought two hats that have stuffed animals at the top. I also bought a knit kit - that is a handy device that has a counter, a measuring tape, a pair of scissors, a small crochet hook and a darning needle. I have three of those - one for every room I knit in. I will never be without a knit kit now!

Scrappy Owls

Donna and I have made so many projects over the years - with each of those projects there is left over yarn. We have several big baskets full of left over yarn.
We have been trying to use the scrap yarn as not to throw them out.
Here is one example of how we are using the scraps.
We call these creations Scrappy Owls.

Not one owl is the same - all unique.
We will be selling these owls at upcoming spring craft shows.
Later on this week I will do a blog on where we will be in March.
