Experimenting Time of Year

After the Holiday Craft Shows and the big holiday push Knitting by Pam and Donna sometimes has a little down time. That is when we like to experiment with new patterns and different yarns.

The week between Christmas and New Years Pam has been experimenting with some different cowl patterns - take a look.

This cowl is called the Seed Stitch Cowl. I made it using Misti Alpaca Chunky - 100% Baby Alpaca Yarn.

This cowl is called Ribbed Cowl with Rolled Border. This cowl is also made using Misti Alpaca Chunky - 100% Baby Alpaca Yarn.

This cowl is called the Baker Moss Stitch Cowl Made using Cloudborn Highland Roving - 100% Highland Wool.

This cowl is called Stockinette Stitch Cowl with Ribbed Border. It is made using Cloudborn Fibers 100% Superwash Merino Wool Bulky.

Let us know what you think of these cowl patterns.

Happy New Year!

It's Hat Season

Hat season is almost upon us!
Every year we try to come up with a new hat pattern.
This years new hat seems to be a hit as they are flying off the table.
Some call these hats beanies - the pattern we are using calls it a slouchy hat.

We are still making two fan favorites - the button hat and the cable brim hat.

Since we have been in business for several years now you always have a few hats that don't sell as well as others.  In an effort to clean out our stock we have started the $10 hat basket.
So far so good on this idea.

Keep Warm!

Shrug

Donna and I are making some news items as we prepare for the Covered Bridge Festival next month.
On this blog we are highlighting a shrug.
This was an easy pattern to make.
When you see it laid out as we have it here in this picture it doesn't look like much.

Here's what it looks like on.

This is made using one of my favorite yarns Titan from Mary Maxim.
We have made two colors - hunter green as you see above and brown as you see below.

Leave us a comment below to tell us what you think of this project.

World Wide Knit in Public Day - 2016

World Wide Knit in Public Day is June 18, 2016.
People all over the world are taking to the outdoors to knit for others to see.

Knitting by Pam and Donna celebrated at the Swissvale Farmers Market along with a few friends from our knitting groups and neighborhood.

This was a great way to start the weekend!

Why Animals?

We have been at the Swissvale Farmers Market for a month now and we have noticed that the stuffed animals Donna of Knitting by Pam and Donna makes have clearly been our top sellers.

There are reasons why we pick some animals - let us share our method to our madness with you.

The most recent animal we had at the market were the penguins. Now if you are living in the Pittsburgh Region this is a no brainer as the Penguins are currently in the Stanley Cup Finals.

In mid - May the Angry Birds movie was released so that is why Donna made Angry Birds.

It was announced that the huge rubber ducky that was in the river at Point State Park a few years back is coming back to Pennsylvania - but it is going to Erie.
The people of the Pittsburgh Region loved this duck so we thought that may be a good thing to make.

Sometimes people ask us to make a certain animal - that was the case with the Unicorns and the Minecraft Creeper.

Sometimes Donna just makes what she wants to make based on what has sold in the past or if she finds a cute pattern.

You never know what we may have in the future so you definitely want to keep watching.

Swissvale Farmers Market - New Location

At last its spring and the Swissvale Farmers Market begins its third season on Saturday, May 7 at 9a.
This year the market has a new location at Dickson School.

The market will be in the rear lot of this building.

This is Knitting by Pam and Donna's third year of participating in the market.
We will continue having an item of the week as well as a kitchen towel of the week plus a whole lot more.

The item of the week for the first market is a great Mothers Day Gift.
These are reusable soap cozies.

Here is the towel of the week.

The market runs every Saturday from May 7th until October 29.
We hope to see you at the market this season!
