Spring Wrap

A knitted wrap can be a very versatile garment with many ways to drape it around your shoulders.
This particular wrap is made using a hand - dyed yarn called Fiesta Rayon Boucle Starburst.
The color - Undersea Garden.

Here's an example of the many ways you can wear a wrap.

We are making several summer infinity scarves. I will post those once they are complete.

Happy Spring!

Pittsburgh Knit & Crochet Festival

This weekend, Knitting by Pam and Donna made a trip to Downtown Pittsburgh to go to the Pittsburgh Knit & Crochet Festival.

Here are some of our latest and greatest finds.

Let me give you some of the highlights of our purchases. We bought some pattens, some silk and alpaca yarn. Both of us bought some jewelry made from knitting needles and crochet hooks. Donna bought two hats that have stuffed animals at the top. I also bought a knit kit - that is a handy device that has a counter, a measuring tape, a pair of scissors, a small crochet hook and a darning needle. I have three of those - one for every room I knit in. I will never be without a knit kit now!

Scrappy Owls

Donna and I have made so many projects over the years - with each of those projects there is left over yarn. We have several big baskets full of left over yarn.
We have been trying to use the scrap yarn as not to throw them out.
Here is one example of how we are using the scraps.
We call these creations Scrappy Owls.

Not one owl is the same - all unique.
We will be selling these owls at upcoming spring craft shows.
Later on this week I will do a blog on where we will be in March.

Infinity Scarves

We have been making Infinity Scarves most of this winter.
This item is a favorite of many of our customers.

One of my cousins asked us to make a couple Infinity Scarves for her.
She picked out the yarn and we created it.
This scarf is made using Berroco Boboli Yarn.
This yarn is a mix of wool, acrylic and viscose.

Here is the other scarf she ordered.
This scarf is made using Plymouth Yarn - Kudo.
This yarn is a mix of cotton, rayon and silk.

The next two Infinity Scarves are made with Vanna's Choice - an acrylic based yarn.
The color of this yarn is called oatmeal.

This color of this yarn is called Grey Marble.

As you can see the Infinity Scarf is a very versatile item. You can wear it long or up close to your neck for warmth.

It sounds like we are going into the deep freeze again this week so please try to stay warm.

Flower Headbands

I met a good friend for dinner on a Friday evening. As we were talking she said "I bet you could make a headband like the one my mother gave me." I immediately pulled my phone out and said I have made similar headbands. She asked for three. Here's what I came up with for her.

This headband is made using Lion Brand's Vanna's Choice in Grey Marble. It's accented with black yarn on the top and bottom. The flower I started out with a black base and layered the grey marble yarn the top. I sewed a vintage button on this one.

This headband was made using Loops & Threads Impeccable yarn in soft taupe. I used a variegated tan and white yarn around the top and bottom and also used the same yarn to make the flower. I used another vintage button for the middle of the flower.

The black headband didn't photograph as well - but I used Lion Brand's Vanna's Choice in black. I accented the headband with a variegated black and white yarn and used the same yarn for the flower. I used a flower button on this headband. I do believe it was from one of my shirts that got old so I rescued the buttons.

A Sweater for Mans Best Friend

It's not fit for man nor beast out.
As you can see Timber got his new winter sweater just in time for the snow and cold weather.

Timber seemed to have a good time playing outside in his new sweater.

Wear the sweater in good health Timber!
