New Year - New Projects

Happy New Year - 2016 is now upon us!
Knitting by Pam and Donna are already busy coming up with new items for the new year.

These scarves we're going to show you are made using remnants from projects where we had a little bit of yarn left. Basically you knit this scarf using a circular needle so you can cast on a lot of stitches and knit a row or two of each ball selected.
You leave a good bit of yarn at the beginning and end of each row to make fringe.

Take a look - no two are alike - all unique pieces!

For those of you who know knitting terminology - this is a real stash buster.

Happy New Year!

Special Orders

Knitting by Pam and Donna sure have had a lot of Special Custom Orders this year.

Let's start out with a couple projects inspired by colleges.

Nebraska Cornhusker Headbands

Penn State Hanger

Head gear has been very interesting this year as well.

Slouchy Hats made using Alpaca yarn

Fox Hood

Ninja Turtle Hat

One of the ladies from the Friends of the Swissvale Library asked us to make her Dobby, the house elf from Harry Potter.
We did not think he would be as big as a small child until we started working on him.

Dobby
As you can see some of these custom orders were quite challenging - but that is how you learn how to do new things.
I am proud to say that we figured out each and every project.
Both Donna and I as well as the customer were very pleased with the outcomes.

Busy, Busy, Busy!

Knitting by Pam and Donna have been very busy working on items that customers have ordered.
We want to share a few of their creations with you.

At the Swissvale Farmers Market one customer bought this tan cowl.

Then she decided she wanted a hat to go with it. The hat is made using the same yarn - honest - that darn sun or perhaps a cloud happened by when I took this picture.

Moving on to another hat.

Another person at the farmers market couldn't decide if she wanted a black or a charcoal hat so we made both. The black hat just didn't photography well - perhaps the sun again.

Now onto a fan favorite - the Infinity Scarves.

Another lady at the farmers market couldn't decide if she wanted a grey or a white infinity scarf. We told her you can have both in the same scarf since we have grey/white variegated yarn.
So that is what she went with.
It turned out great!

One of our friends in Munhall wanted two infinity scarves - one that had a denim look to it ....

... and another using winter white yarn.

One of the ladies I work with has children who go to Pine Richland School District.
She wanted a pine green infinity.

The possibilities are endless!
If you don't see the color you want - ask - the yarn companies make it easy since they make yarn in so many wonderful textures and colors.

Next week I will be doing a blog on where we will be during the month of November - stay tuned!

Headbands Galore!

Well it's September and that means that Knitting by Pam and Donna are very busy making wearable items for the cold weather.

We are dedicating this blog to our line of headbands.
Every year we seem to find a new pattern - so we have three styles to choose from this year.
Keep in the mind color selections are endless - if you want a certain color to match your coat just ask and we can make it especially for you!

Here is my favorite headband - the flower headband.

This is made using acrylic yarn so it is washable. There are two button holes in the back which make it adjustable. We love picking out the buttons to put with each flower.
We can do this headband in any color - here you can see the headbands in sage, tan, purple and black.

This is our new headband for this year. We are still experimenting with these. This headband can be made in any color as well. We want to see if they are well received before making a lot of them.

Here is our old standby. This is the first headband we ever sold. These are super fast to make and come in so many colors.

Remember the Farmers Almanac says its going to be a bad winter - you might want to stock up!
